Vanessa & Dave were actually one of the first ever couples to book me in during that first year of my career of handing out hi-fives at weddings and taking some pretty heartfelt and fun photos for people at their 'getting married event' Their wedding at Longview Winery in Macclesfield was a spectacular day full of adventure.
Speaking of adventure, Vanessa met Dave for the first time while adventuring through the outback. Dave happened to be on the very same tour that Vanessa was doing. He'd come for a holiday from England on a working holiday visa and Vanessa was with a friend of hers who was visiting from her mother land, Scotland.
Despite Dave and I having differing opinions on who is the superior English Premier League team, I knew early on that these two U.K originals would be a great fit for me. When you see eye to eye on so much and being open and honest with one another is so easy, family is valued, fun is wanted, then I know we're onto a winning combination. During our first meeting, Vanessa told the tale of how special it was to have Dave propose to her in front of her Grandmother who Vanessa thought the absolute world of. I know she'd be looking down at Vanessa & Dave now and be so very proud of them both.
Vanessa & Dave wanted a fun filled, relaxed and extremely happy wedding. They got it! It was a super sunny day with blue skies and good vibes at the picturesque Longview. Vanessa mentioned how seeing smiles on everyone's faces and having them all up on the dance floor with her was a big priority. Choosing DJ Aaron Knight as their MC for the night made this a breeze. Aaron worked the crowd so well and it was great getting to get a little inside knowledge to the workings of Survivor too!
I also had the pleasure of working alongside Doug & Dana from Will&Co for the first time. These two worked their socks off all day and I'm very excited to see the finished video they make.
So before we get into the photos I'll leave a little word from Vanessa here that I think will add some value to all you prospective new couples checking out my work and planning your weddings.
Enjoy the photos and take it away Ness!
"Just RELAX… Take everything as it comes… If something goes wrong just laugh it off. No point in getting all bridezilla because the day goes SO quickly and only happens once!"
This doggo loved me SO much, right Dave?
Vanessa had some beautiful boudoir photos taken by Dana from Will & Co Photography and gifted it to Dave the morning of the wedding.
This is celebrant Debra Krieg. She likes to have fun and she also conducts awesome ceremonies for people. She's great.
Photo bombed by a Scotsman. Tick that one off the bucket list.
Vanessa'a Dad was way too cool for school. :)
Novak Djokovic made an appearance.
Vanessa & Dave had some nice words to share with me a few days after their wedding. Thanks again lovers.
"We had Alex as our photographer for our wedding & can not recommend him enough! He made everyone laugh with his wicked games, made me calm down & enjoy every second of the day! He's such a calming soul and I had everyone say how amazing he was. I got a sneak peek of some of the pictures that same evening and myself and my partner were blown away with the quality of his work."
These two legends met through a certain dating app that starts with 'T' and ends in 'inder' about 4 years ago. Holly had gone to meet Josh and watch his friends play in their band. Little did Holly know but a bunch of Josh's closest friends and family were there too. Holly wasn't the only one meeting family on the first date. The very next morning as Josh walked out of Holly's bedroom he met her parents for the first time and to quote Holly here...."They had breakfast."
I thought that was kinda funny.
Fast forward a couple of years and Josh & Holly found themselves holidaying in Umea, Sweden. While there they got their 'rent a wreck' car and drove to a frozen lake the area was known for. As they arrived the lake was completely frozen and covered in thick snow. They took some time to slide around and be big kids. It was here that the sneaky pickle tactics began. As they headed back to their cabin Josh tried to convince Holly that he'd lost his phone back at the frozen lake and that they should go back to look for it. They continued on to the cabin and when they arrived Josh ran inside to look for it. Holly was kinda bummed out that they'd need to go back to the lake and be out in the freezing cold but little did she know it was all part of the ruse. They headed back to the lake as the sun was setting and began to look for the phone. While there, Josh walked up to Holly revealing his phone in his jacket pocket. Holly mentioned to me that she thought Josh was upset for not looking in his jacket initially so she gave him a hug to calm him down. She was quick to notice that Josh's heart was beating REALLY fast. As she looked up at Josh she found him looking her deep in her eyes and he began to tell her how much he loved her, pulled out a box and dropped to his knee in the snow. Holly dropped into the snow too and said yes. Apparently Josh hadn't planned to propose then and there but the time felt right. They headed back to the cabin and Josh quickly got the ring that he had hidden inside his socks.
The Wedding Day
In Holly's words the day was filled with stuff that they wanted to have at their wedding. Super casual, easy, rustic and theirs. Keeping out unnecessary formalities but still making it a day where each important moment had its place was key for them. Josh & Holly's wedding was a memorable one filled full to the brim with heartfelt tears of joy, good music, good food and a group of people I won't forget quickly, if ever. It's always a joy for me to be accepted into a group and be considered one of the crew! I remember in our initial meeting I had already got those crazy good vibes when Josh told me that all they wanted for their wedding day was lots of fun with their family and friends. My kind of wedding.
A tonne of awesome people made this day super special for Holly & Josh too so they're listed here as well!

Ready to see a very proud Dad?
After a morning filled with rain, the sun pushed it's way through the clouds and everyone cheered!
These are Holly's Grandparents. The whole day was held on their property!
This is probably the most PG photo from this sequence and I promised I wouldn't show more haha. All I'm trying to show you is that it's ok to be silly and potentially get semi-nude on your wedding day! #freethenipple
Josh's friends supplied to beats all night and killed it!
